Sigmoidal built an iOS app that allows users to find unclaimed property throughout the U.S. The project was complex, requiring a backend built on Amazon Web Services (AWS). We provided designs of the frontend, but their team built it out and provided additional suggestions.

Sigmoidal built out a modern, user-friendly app that includes a complex backend and beautifully designed frontend. In addition to meeting our specs, they provided invaluable suggestions to help improve the end product.

In addition to delivering the app on time and within budget, their team is consistently easy to work with. Responsive in communication, they're available to us both on Slack as well as through some shared agile project management tools.

Our collaboration with Sigmoidal was embarked upon with the vision of creating an AI Knowledge Assistant, a tool designed to navigate the complexities of the financial world.

The scope of work was ambitious, encompassing the development of a sophisticated system capable of addressing a broad spectrum of intricate queries integral to our industry, e.g., UCITS regulations. However, it extended its capabilities to encompass various complex matters pivotal to wealth and asset management.

Sigmoidal developed a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) system in cooperation with our engineers. This innovative approach combined semantic search with generative AI, enabling the Knowledge Assistant to provide contextually rich and accurate responses. The system was built with scalability in mind, ensuring it could adapt to the evolving demands of our industry.

From a technical perspective - Sigmoidal's team provided us with a complete and robust AI system hosted on a scalable AWS EC2 backend and accessible through an intuitive interface. They implemented sophisticated components like a PDF-to-text converter, a text splitter with optimized hyperparameters, a chunk-to-embedding module, and a vector database engine.

The indexing and retrieval system powered by LlamaIndex and the integration of OpenAI GPT-4 and Hugging Face for the LLM querying endpoint. The outcome of this project has been nothing short of transformative for Helvetia Capital Partners. The Knowledge Assistant developed by Sigmoidal has become an invaluable asset in our operations, enhancing our decision-making processes, compliance capabilities, and overall service quality.

This system has revolutionized how we handle heavy machinery and industrial equipment loading. Its seamless integration with our existing inventory and transportation management software, leveraging historical and real-time data, has significantly boosted our operational efficiency. 

As requested, Sigmoidal also implemented a predictive maintenance system within our fleet. This system, equipped with our internal cutting-edge sensors, facilitates real-time data collection on vehicle performance. 

The software analyzed this data to predict maintenance requirements, enabling proactive servicing. This has reduced vehicle downtime and extended its operational lifespan. 

A user-friendly dashboard for fleet managers offers invaluable insights into vehicle health and maintenance schedules, simplifying management processes. 

Sigmoidal incorporated generative AI to enhance our customer service and internal operation - they introduced an AI-powered knowledge assistant. Moreover, the generative AI tool could automate the creation of reports, summaries, and logistics plans. 

This automation has streamlined our internal processes, saving us time and resources.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Firstly, there was a substantial increase in our operational efficiency. Implementing the automated load and capacity management system resulted in faster and more efficient handling of heavy machinery. 

This improvement led to a considerable reduction in loading and unloading times, enhancing the overall turnaround times of our vehicles - an efficiency gain estimated to be around 30% per convoy. Another critical outcome was the reduction in vehicle downtime. 

The predictive maintenance system, equipped with AI-driven analytics, enabled us to schedule servicing and repairs proactively. This approach drastically reduced vehicle downtime. Due to proactive servicing, it's estimated we save about 20-40k USD every quarter. 

Regarding internal process efficiency, the generative AI tools for automated report and document generation marked a significant time-saving milestone. The time required for generating reports and logistics plans was cut down by nearly 90%.
